Design A Character // Days 2 & 3

day2_01day2_02day2_03day3_01

Plugging away slowly on this 😛 I think I finally figured out what I want her to look like, though it’s tough to draw her consistently :/ I still don’t have a name for her.

The pose references are from SenshiStock. I was originally going to draw the poses at random, but I figured that would make it difficult to draw her in character.

Design a Character // Day 1

day1_01

A few months ago, I wrote down this idea for a comic:

Girl reluctantly gets job at a pet shop. She’s not a fan of animals (for one thing she’s allergic) but she needs the money and doesn’t have any other employment options at the moment. Work is boring, so she amuses herself by observing the regular customers that come into the shop and imagining what kind of lives they lead.

LOL. What was I even thinking? Anyway, I’m using this challenge to flesh out that main character. I still haven’t decided on her final appearance, but I know that I want her to have red hair and freckles. I’m also trying to work with a square-ish jawline because I’m trying to draw characters with more variation.

She doesn’t have a name yet. As for personality, she’s pragmatic and kind of cynical. Most of the time she has an “I’m-so-done-with-everyone-else’s-shenanigans” expression.

Design A Theme Park // Day 7

day7_01

Did you know that a giraffe’s front legs are longer than its back legs? In order to bend down far enough to reach water to drink, a giraffe has to stand with its front legs far apart.

Perfect for a water slide at a theme park 😉

Well there you have it, 7 days of theme park related sketches! I’m done with this challenge, but anyone is welcome to try it themselves at any time! You can find the prompts here. I’ll be posting the next set of prompts sometime in the future, so keep an eye out for those 😉

Design A Theme Park // Day 6

day6_01

Some things that might light up my theme park at night 🙂 I didn’t draw the whole park because a) I still haven’t planned out the park as a whole; b) I’m lazy 😛 ; and c) it didn’t seem practical to draw a night scene with just a ballpoint pen (not that it’s impossible but…see “b”).

One more day to go!

Design A Theme Park // Day 5

day5_01

Forget the theme park, let’s just open a giraffe-themed restaurant! In which everything is giraffe-shaped (and probably impossible to make LOL).

The waffle cone ice cream looked more like a giraffe in my head ”OTL

Design A Theme Park // Days 2, 3, & 4

day2_01

Hah! I bet you all thought I was slacking off! NOPE, I’ve actually been drawing these on time! (Bear with me, sometimes you have to celebrate the little victories because life is hard XD) This is more of a layout plan than a map of the park. I still don’t quite have a grasp on what the park looks like, so I just marked where things should go.

day3_01

Part of the reason I stuck with giraffes for my theme park is because it would be easy to design the rollercoaster XD

day4_01

This one was fun to design! I can’t draw anything in perspective though XD

Am I supposed to be naming these rides?

On a technical note, I switched to a different pen to draw; I like the ink flow of the one I used for Day 1, but I was in constant fear that I am going to smudge everything (I’m a lefty). So from now on I’m using a more standard ballpoint pen 😀

Design A Theme Park // Day 1

day1_01

So it turns out I’m not that great at coming up with theme park ideas XD I started out by doodling things I like. I’m not sure which (if any) of these I’m going to stick with for the rest of the challenge…the giraffe theme park logo is the most fun to work with because I like seeing how many letters I can turn into giraffes 😀 Plus, a giraffe-themed rollercoaster would be great XD

Art and books are pretty generic, but think of the gift shops!!! They’d just be art/book/stationery stores!! Wait never mind, they’d all be way overpriced

day1_02

After a while I found an amusement park name generator and tried making logos for some of the names that came up. Nothing very original, but a good exercise 🙂

Might work on these more tomorrow before moving on to the next prompt.

BCW: Drawing Prompts — Tam Team Updates

Taking a short break from screencap redraws! My art’s been feeling a bit stale lately so let’s play a game to help get my creative juices flowing! Pick a number and a character (or characters) from Tam Team Adventures and I’ll draw it! Any character that has ever been featured on the site is fair game, […]

Pick a number, any number 😀 I need to get back to drawing things other than comics~~

Art Trades, Requests and Doodles

(Actually, there’s only one of each.)

roskoarttrade

First, my half of an art trade with Strawberry! This is her OC Rosko, who–well, actually I don’t know anything about this character 😛 He strikes me as a bit of a trickster though– pulling pranks and bounding away while shouting something like, “Catch me if you can, losers!” You know, just like what real cats do.

I’m trying to get back to a more painterly style. It’s just more comfortable and feels more intuitive to me, which makes the process a bit faster.

Oh! And make sure you check out Strawberry’s half of the trade! She drew a really cool picture of P4 from Tam Team Adventures!

lucina

Next is a drawing of Lucina from Fire Emblem: Awakening that I did for my brother. I’m not particularly pleased with how it turned out, so I may give it another go sometime in the future :/

tothemoon01

And finally, a doodle of Drs. Neil Watts and Eva Rosalene from the game To the Moon! If you like story-rich games, I definitely recommend this one 🙂 To the Moon is about two doctors who are hired to help a man fulfill his dying wish to go to the moon. It’s an artificial process, in which the doctors must alter the man’s memories in order to make him believe that he lived to accomplish his life goal.

The story is well told and at times very thought-provoking and emotional. And funny. I think I’d have cried through it if I wasn’t laughing so hard at the doctors’ sarcastic and ill-timed jokes.

That’s all for now, I think. I’m trying to push myself to draw more so I can post more often 😉
