Flower Power HD for iPad

Taking a brief pause from Pokemon drawings to announce the release of FlowerPowerHD for the iPad!

FlowerPower is a game developed by Tamarac Apps, an indie app group that currently consists of two programmers and two artists (me and Janielyn! :D). We worked on it for almost three years and it finally went live on the App Store today! FlowerPower is a platformer game in which different flowers from various regions have to protect their favorite hangout, The Growve, from being demolished by construction workers. The characters are unique and sort of silly, and some of the regions are kind of wacky, but we hope that people have fun playing this game because we had fun making it!

It’s only available for the iPad at the moment, but soon it will be available for iPhones and Android devices! The first three regions are free to play; the rest of the regions can be purchased within the game for $1.99. Just search for FlowerPowerHD on the App Store!

If you don’t have an iPad, you can check out the Tamarac website for a few gameplay videos! There’s also some fun stuff like Character Bios and Screenshots πŸ˜€

Please check out FlowerPower and tell your friends! And feel free to ask us questions and/or give us feedback! This is our first attempt at making a game, and we’d like to learn as much as possible from it so that we can make better games and apps in the future πŸ™‚

  1. That’s so cool! I had no idea you two were helping to make a game! I’m helping to make a fan-made game, it’s going to be a sequel to Banjo Tooie. Have you ever heard of the Banjo Kazooie series? Anyway, the name of the project is Project Imagination, and I’m the data manager for it. πŸ˜€

    • Yes, I’ve heard of Banjo Kazooie, though I’ve never played it (but wow, I haven’t heard that title in ages!). Sounds like a big project! What platform are you developing the game for?

      • It’s not really a big project, unless you mean that there’s a lot to do, because we plan on having 9 worlds and 100 Jiggies. Like I said, it’s a fan-made project, so it will probably have to be a download only game. The fact that it is a fan project also means that we can only take volunteers. I may have to see if we could legally get it on a console. Know of a way we could contact Microsoft? Also, you wouldn’t happen to know of anyone who would be willing to volunteer, would you? I have an extra page on my blog with a link to the original post as well, if you want to know more.

      • Ah, sorry, I should have worded my question differently ;; What I meant was, what sort of tools are you using to make the game (ie. Flash, some other kind of game-building program)? I sort of figured it wouldn’t be for a particular console, because as far as I know there are certain legal issues with making an “official” fan-made game…

I don’t personally know anyone who might be interested in helping out, but I think that for a fan-made game like this, your best bet would probably be other Banjo Kazooie fans. You might want to check out different gaming forums and ask around to see if anyone is interested. If there’s one thing I learned from working on FlowerPower, it’s that A LOT of work goes into the production of the game, so if someone is going to be working on that sort of project they’d better really love what they’re doing.

I hope things go well for your project! I’d be interested in seeing how the game development progresses πŸ˜‰
